Valve Over Water Heater

a very useful scenario for everyone

A volunteer on the Hudson Park Communications Committee relates the following story to assist neighbours:

“For a month or two now, whenever I was running the taps, particularly the shower, I would hear a high pitch sound in the pipes near the hot water heater.

“I called a plumber and it turned out to be the mixing valve just above the hot water tank. It looks like a T junction. The plumber said that these valves have a 5 to 7 year life and the signs of its deterioration is either noise or leaks.

“In my case it was noise. The plumber replaced mine without any issues.”

Additional notes

  • Cost of valve $130 and entire cost installed was $305 all in

  • Another neighbour and volunteer reports that the same work for her was $395 all in

  • Please note: Reliant does not offer any support for the mixing valve over their hot water heaters
